An air with a longboard? It's possible!

"Who said longboarders couldn't do aerial?" asks The inertia.

Indeed, during the Return to the Reef contest in Cardiff, surfer Joe Rickabaugh succeeded in launching his 9-foot longboard into the air to perform a superb aerial. According to his shaper Guy Takayama, "it was the right board for the competition that day. I discussed it with him and John Welch on the beach, and we all agreed that the Koa model was perfect for these conditions. Indeed, it was the right board, and this aerial proves that longboarders can also have fun in the air.

Clearly, this was not the first time Joe Rickabaugh has achieved such a feat. The multi-talented surfer won the 2015 Noosa Festival of Surfing Men's Open and earned a podium at the 2015 MSA Classic Invitational. "It was a super cool feeling," Joe said after his sleeve. "I'm just surfing and having fun!".
